WHY ERAS?

Ever since I was younger, I've admired Beyonce and how she brands herself. Ultimately, always seeing myself in her and what she represents. Over time, her empire became something I wanted to build for myself. So be aware that everything may always lead back to that.

When I think of Eras, I think of moments in time, whether in the future or in the past, they were so important that they needed an era. For example, I separate Beyonce's looks and projects into eras.

Starting with Destiny's Child Era, DC3 Era, Dangerously in Love Era, B'Day Era, I AM.. Sasha Fierce Era, 4 Era, Self-Titled Era, Lemonade Era, The Gift, Renaissance, and now Cowboy Carter.

There are subgenres like Pregyonce, BobYonce, and Darkyonce. Beyonce embodies every project and I can tell which era she's in by any photo you show me.

Last year in January I started a new position as a personal assistant to a famous rapper and while I was in L.A deciding on my next move I thought about how I was going into a new chapter of life, at the time the word chapter felt too big, new age? No. A new Era? Yes. Books have chapters. Icons have Eras.

I've always felt the need to share my unsolicited opinion, like a real urge to tell people how I feel, what I see, and what I think. I thought that it would be genius to start a blog or start making content around being an assistant. But I was anxious that what I say or post may offend or disrupt Any NDA I’ve signed. One thing I pride myself in is being very humble and self aware. So I thought about what makes me any different from any other random girl starting a Fashion Blog and why would people be interested in what I think or have to say? Well for one, I’m not a random girl, I AM THAT GIRL. I have worked many jobs and lived many lives by the age of 24. AND MY RESUME SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.

In college, I started working as a social media manager for a high-profile fashion and wellness entrepreneur. "The Guru", taught me how important it is to build community within a business. That you can establish yourself as a brand and get paid for it. Taught me professionalism within the social media industry, that ultimately it's business and although it’s a new field it is substantial to every business. My experience in the Mindset Era prepared me to work with “The Icon”.

The lessons I've learned gave me confidence to message one of my favorite Stylist’s and Costume Designer’s and landing a job. While working for "The Icon" I started as a social media manager and after a year and a trip to New York and Paris Fashion Week proving myself as a great asset she hired me as her personal assistant and I moved from Ohio all the way to Los Angeles where I lived for a year. collectively I worked for “The Icon” for 2 years. My Fashion Era taught me the ins and outs of being a stylist and how to professionally call the shots and prepared me to work in a design studio.

I briefly worked at a design studio under an amazing Designer. My official position was Showroom Coordinator but I honestly worked as her shadow. “The Guide” taught me balance --how to regulate my nervous system and how to curate a business to flow around you and not into you. “The Guide” has truly guided me in the direction I'm going in now. She always poured into me and made me feel seen. Even now as I've moved back to Ohio we talk almost every other day. As a young creative I feel that it is very important to build relationships and mentorship with other successful creatives. Not only will it help you network and have access to information you aren't privy to but you'll learn the real meaning of being an entrepreneur behind the mask of social media, awards, and praise. This was my Sparkle Era which I feel served as a reminder going into my current era.

I wasn't able to work in-office with “The Guide” for as long as I wanted to but I was introduced to a new lifestyle that gave me a lot of insight on what my future could hold. Like I said at the beginning of last year, I started working as a personal assistant to a famous rapper. We'll call her "The Rocket". She taught me sacrifice. I had never experienced “booked and busy” until I worked for her. Mind you, I lasted 5 months and I normally wouldn’t call it an Era but in those 5 months, I traveled to 2 countries, back and forth from east to west coast a million times. I coordinated and supported someone's whole life. This position made me pay attention to things I would normally ask my mom to handle but I was handling that sh*t. That position truly changed the professional within me. I was so proud of myself in that position and it was an amazing opportunity. Essentially it ended because I became unhappy fast, I felt like I was turning into someone I didn’t recognize and had to put my sanity first. This Era allowed me to combine all of the skills and lessons I've learned from the other 3 and I am grateful for that.

All of these positions helped shape me into the woman I am today.

I also feel so grateful to have only been employed by BLACK WOMEN. like that’s such a flex to me. All 4 of those women taught me something about myself that I'll forever cherish.

Now, it’s time to take every lesson, every skill, every critique and use it all for myself.

For my business, for my brand, for my legacy. Sometimes when you work in the industry of fashion and entertainment you can lose yourself and lucky me, I was able to find myself.

2025 is MY YEAR and I know it's yours too.

This is my “ME Era”.
